Opulence Build on Breeze-Up Success with New Craven Acquisition

Opulence have continued their upward trajectory in the breeze-up arena with the purchase of Lot 159, a colt by Havana Grey out of Charline Royale, at the 2026 Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale.

The Craven Breeze-Up Sale remains Europe’s premier source of ready-to-run two-year-olds, attracting leading buyers from across the globe in search of precocious talent, and Lot 159 ticked every pre requisite for us. A strong, athletic colt who stood out physically—bigger, more powerful, and with excellent movement. He has a sharp, speed-oriented pedigree, out of a stakes-placed 2YO mare who has already produced solid runners, making him a clear step up on her previous progeny. He breezed very well, showing a straight action and posting a competitive time, reinforcing his profile as an early, fast type. He seems very much an exciting prospect with the potential to make an impact at Royal Ascot.

The acquisition adds to an already impressive breeze-up record for Opulence Thoroughbreds, whose graduates have delivered consistent results on the racecourse. To date, the operation has sourced 27 wins from breeze-up recruits, accumulating over £600,000 in prize money, while 10 of the 15 recruits have achieved ratings between 87 and 107.

Among their notable successes are Purosangue, Marchogion, Addison Grey and Old Is Gold, all of whom have advertised the effectiveness of our breeze-up approach and helped establish the operation as a growing force.

The newly acquired colt will join the yard of trainer Andrew Balding, a partnership that has already proven highly successful for Opulence Thoroughbreds after the success of Old is Gold in the Bet365 Trophy last year, before being sold privately.

Best of luck to all connections on the start of another exciting journey!
