July Owners' Morning
We started the month with a fantastic visit to the yards of Andrew Balding and Jack Channon, situated in the picturesque hills of Hampshire/Berkshire.
Kicking off the morning at Park House Stables with sausage rolls, cakes and coffee in the marquee, Classic-winning trainer Andrew Balding gave us a run through of the horses before we headed over to the gallops to see them in action. The drizzly July morning couldn’t dampen our spirits and we jumped back in the golf buggies and tractor bus to go meet the horses up close in the yard where they enjoyed a pick of grass and lots of attention from all of you.
Two-year-old CAPTAIN HARRY has grown nicely into his frame and is almost ready to make his debut for the team next week, whilst newcomer MARCHOGION looks ready to go in the middle of this month as a smart, early son of MEHMAS. Of the older horses, PUROSANGUE and ARCTIC THUNDER are getting ready to head to Glorious Goodwood, taking place from 30th July - 3rd August, and should both hold excellent chances on competitive marks.
Next we made our way to West Ilsley Stables to see JUNGLE MAC and our two-year-old KAMEKO colt, who is nearly ready to make his racecourse debut later this month. He has a striking, classy physical that is reminiscent of an oil painting, and going by his work at home he certainly has the talent to match. The sun came out and it turned into a beautiful day in time for us to head over to the gallops to see JUNGLE MAC in exercise, where the morning was topped off with pizza and drinks in country style from Dough & Deer’s wood-fired pizza Land Rover!
