Devoirs Choice Delivers Landmark Victory for Opulence Thoroughbreds at Jebel Ali
Devoirs Choice produced a gutsy and professional performance to claim the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Stakes at Jebel Ali, securing a historic first-ever winner in the UAE for Opulence Thoroughbreds.
The five-year-old gelding, trained by Bhupat Seemar and confidently ridden by Tadhg O’Shea, raced midfield before making his move three furlongs from home. After finding a gap approaching the final furlong, Devoirs Choice responded Powerfully and led late, eventually winning by half a length from Muntasir, with Goldspur a further three and a half lengths back in third in the fast one-mile handicap on dirt.
The son of Ten Sovereigns showed great determination to overcome mid-race traffic and hold off strong challengers in a competitive field. This victory marks a significant milestone for both horse and connections, representing the first winner for Opulence Thoroughbreds on UAE soil and highlighting the geldings adaptability in the demanding desert environment.
After the race, jockey Tadhg O’Shea said: “He travelled well throughout and when I asked him to go, he found plenty. It was always going to be tight in the straight, but he kept finding. Opulence Thoroughbreds have had huge success within the UK and have been fantastic to us with their support over here in the UAE, so it is fantastic to deliver them their first winner over here"
O’Shea’s tactical ride was a key factor in navigating a tactical handicap. Congratulations once again to all of our wonderful owners, we are incredibly excited to see what the future holds for Devoirs Choice as the season progresses!
