DASHING DARCEY storms clear at Lingfield

DASHING DARCEY made things look easy today in Lingfield’s 1m Restricted Novice Stakes when powering clear of the field to score by an impressive four lengths under a cool ride from David Egan. Despite a stunted start to his career when pulled up on debut, he has impressed in both starts since, following up his eye-catching second at Newcastle with today’s victory, and looks to have plenty more to come.

He was a Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up purchase, secured from Ardglas Stables for only 20,000 GNS as the first foal out of winning mare SO CLAIRE, and bred by Charlock Stud. He looks the physical stamp of his four-time Group 1-winning sire, MUHAARAR, with whom we have had great success, and is sure to improve again at three in the same manner.

A huge congratulations to the team at Varian Stables and all of his connections!

DASHING DARCEY upped in trip, confirmed promise of last run; close up, travelled fluently, shaken up home turn, quickened to lead over 1f out, went clear, had plenty in hand; looks a useful prospect and should have little difficulty defying a penalty.

A one-sided maiden, the odds-on favourite readily quickening clear off a fairly steady gallop, those in behind running to just a fair level.
