Addison Grey back on the winning trail with Newbury success
Fan favourite Addison Grey returned to winning ways in style on Saturday, taking the feature seven-furlong handicap at Newbury under a well judged ride from Hector Crouch.
Having been unlucky in his previous few starts, the four year old grey sat prominently through the early stages before being niggled along and switched left approximately two furlongs from home to find clear running. Once in the clear, he powered to the front inside the final furlong and kept on well to deny Havana Pusey, who had led for much of the race, by one and a half lengths.
Speaking with the Racing Post and reflecting on the run, Cox explained that the horse had found himself in trouble in a couple of previous starts, but stretching him out in trip was something connections felt could help spark new life and the move has put him back in the winner's enclosure with renewed confidence:
"He got himself into a pickle in a couple of his runs, but stretching out to this trip is something we felt was going to be possible, and hopefully that will give him confidence now he’s back on the winning trail"
It was fantastic to celebrate with so many of the ownership group in attendance on Saturday, and with renewed confidence in Addison Grey we are very much looking to the remaining targets this season! Congratulations to all connections once again.

ADDISON GREY generally gives his running and, with excuses last time, wasted no time getting back to form, stepping up to 7f for the first time to gain a first win of the year; in touch, pushed along over 2f out, led last ½f, went clear soon after.
A useful handicap run in a good time and likely to prove rock-solid form, the winner trying 7f for the first time; the field raced up the centre.
